It took 44 years and three overtimes for Navy to beat Notre Dame, but they did it Saturday with a 46-44 victory in triple overtime.

With the win, the Midshipmen snap an NCAA-record 43-game losing streak to the Fighting Irish. The game marks the first time Navy has beat Notre Dame since a 35-14 win in 1963 when Roger Staubach was quarterback for the Midshipmen.

Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada threw a 25-yard touchdown pass and 2-point conversion to Reggie Campbell in the third overtime to give the Midshipmen a 46-38 lead at Notre Dame Stadium.

Then Travis Thomas ran five yards for a touchdown on fourth down to pull Notre Dame within two points. After Navy was called for pass interference in breaking up a 2-point conversion, the Middies stopped Thomas on a run to end the game.

Eric Kettani rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns for Navy, which gained 257 yards on the ground. James Aldridge ran for 125 yards for Notre Dame, while Thomas scored three times.
