The NBA schedule-makers have given us a timely preview of the first-round playoff series between the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks (46-34 SU, 43-36-1 ATS), and the No. 5 Miami Heat (42-38 SU, 38-40-2 ATS). Only Tuesday’s matchup will probably not look anything like what we’ll see when they lock horns in the postseason.
The Miami Herald reported Monday that the Heat are taking a “wait-and-see” approach on whether to rest their starters against Atlanta. Dwyane Wade and Jamario Moon (groin, abdomen) were specifically named as candidates to take off the last two games of the season. They’d join Jermaine O’Neal (calf) and Udonis Haslem (hand) on the sidelines.
At the other end, the Hawks are expected to give the following players “plenty” of floor time, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Speedy Claxton, Solomon Jones, Mario West, Randolph Morris, Thomas Gardner, and Othello Hunter.
