It looked like the Phoenix Suns (23-17 SU, 13-25-1 ATS) had a steal of a deal when they got Jason Richardson from the Charlotte Bobcats (17-25 SU, 25-17 ATS) as part of a package that sent Boris Diaw and Raja Bell to the East Coast. Richardson may be the best player in the trade, but the Suns are 10-7 SU and just 3-12-1 ATS since the deal went down. The reinforced Bobcats are 10-10 SU and a very tasty 13-7 ATS.

Charlotte coach Larry Brown has been criticized over his preference for veteran players. It’s a legitimate concern that Brown’s approach will stifle the development of Charlotte’s younger players. Be that as it may, Brown is putting a competitive lineup on the court and getting to the pay window on a regular basis. The Suns play better basketball than the ‘Cats, but expectations have kept them from covering much.
