Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game is a welcome break for the league’s players – whether they’re in the actual game itself, part of the satellite competitions like the Slam Dunk contest, or simply taking the weekend off.

But handicappers, as usual, are as busy as they want to be. Keep your eye on our NBA betting lines for the freshest odds on Friday’s Rookie-Sophomore game and Sunday’s main event.

Meanwhile, check out the NBA props page to see what’s on tap for Saturday’s various competitions. Dwight Howard (20-31 odds) was the Slam Dunk favorite at press time; he won last year’s event, with a twist to the judging rules: Fans voted Howard over 2007 winner Gerald Green via text message. Not surprisingly, the NBA is using the same corporate moneymaking format to decide this year’s winner, so keep in mind that Howard’s immense nationwide fan popularity makes him the decided favorite.
