The Mavs went to Josh Howard early, relying on their bench late and wearing down the Spurs in a 105-97 victory on Saturday night.

About the only thing wrong for Dallas and its backers is that Jason Kidd didn't practice because of a stomach illness.

Kidd expects to be fine for Game 2 tonight, where the Mavericks will try and go up 2-0 before heading home.
The Mavericks were only 18-23 on the road this season, including winning just two of their last eight away from Dallas before the playoffs.

Tony Parker averaged more than 31 points and seven assists in four games against Dallas before the playoffs but made just two field goals in the second half, finishing with 24 points. Get NBA basketball picks before the big game.
