The Big Ten ain’t what she used to be. But the old grey mare still has some quality hoops to offer, like Tuesday’s matchup between the No. 6 Michigan State Spartans (20-4 SU, 12-8-1 ATS) and the No. 19 Purdue Boilermakers (19-6 SU, 10-11 ATS). This promises to be a tough defensive battle in the paint between MSU’s Goran Suton (7.4 rebounds per game) and Purdue’s JaJuan Johnson (6.0 boards, 2.3 blocks per game). The under is on a 7-1 roll when these two teams collide.

Although this looks like an even matchup on paper – factoring in Purdue’s home-court advantage – the betting value is on the side of the Boilers. Michigan State has jumped all the way to No. 6 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the coaches poll, a lofty position for a four-loss team. The Boilermakers have covered each of their last four meetings with MSU.
