Just hours before the 2008-09 National Football League season opener, the New York Giants locked up their No. 1 receiver.

Plaxico Burress, who starred during the Giants' Super Bowl championship run of a year ago, has signed a five-year, $35 million deal with the club. His first year is set to pay him approximately $11 million.

Burress had refused to practice during a minicamp in June because he was unhappy the team had not renegotiated a deal.

His annual salary was well below the roughly $9 million that Terrell Owens of Dallas and Randy Moss of New England make.
