It's been an eventful Friday for Gang Green.
Today, the New York Jets announced they've signed top draft pick Vernon Gholston, ending his brief one-day holdout. The Jets signed the No. 6 overall pick to a multiyear deal believed to be worth $50 million (with $21 million guaranteed over five years). The hulking Gholston, who set an Ohio State record with 14 sacks last season, is expected to immediately improve the Jets' pass rush.
Then, the Jets were involved in the rumor mill, believed to be one of the teams alive and kicking in the Brett Favre sweepstakes. According to a report on ESPN.com,
it appears as though the Packers have granted a few teams the right to speak with Favre about playing. Those include the Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What this means for Chad Pennington and/or Kellen Clemens remains to be seen…stay tuned!
