NFL Betting Preview: Browns a Slight Favorite Over Seahawks

One of the league’s biggest surprises meets a group of underachievers when the Seahawks visit Cleveland.
Behind some guy named Derek Anderson, the Browns (4-3 overall, 5-2 against the point spread) have won three straight for the first time since 2001 and sit in second place in the AFC North. Anderson has 17 touchdown passes, second in the NFL to Tom Brady, and the Browns are ranked fourth in scoring with 27.7 points per game.
On the other hand, the Seahawks have had an up-and-down season. They’re first in the NFC West, but that’s a sad statement on the division rather than a testament to Seattle’s play. The Seahawks are 4-3 overall and 3-3-1 ATS, but they did destroy the Rams 33-6 two weeks ago in their last game before a bye week.
With Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander under pressure to perform, the Seahawks will be eager to show they can win outside the division, too.
The betting total for this one is 47 points, which seems high. But consider that the over has gone 15-7 in the Seahawks’ last 22 games on the road and 5-0 in the Browns’ last five games and you can see that it makes sense.
