At 12:01am this morning, NFL Free Agency was officially underway. And it didn't take long for several teams to get in on the action. A quick recap of the movement thus far:
- Cleveland Browns – Have inked Pro Bowl QB Derek Anderson to a multi-year deal. Specifics from the contract have not been released as the deal is not finalized, but the two sides were negotiating a three-year, $20 million contract earlier in the week. Anderson threw 29 touchdown passes last season and went 10-5 aftr taking over as the starting QB in the second week of the season.
- New Orleans Saints – Beefed up their linebacking department by negotiating a trade for Jonathan Vilma from the New Jork Jets. While the deal was not officially announced, it is believed that the Saints picked him up for a fourth round pick in 2009 that could be flipped to a third-rounder, depending on how well Vilma plays next season. Vilma will be in an interesting situation in the Big Easy, as he's in the final year of his contract.
- Minnesota Vikings – Went out and made Madieu Williams one of the highest-paid safeties in the NFL. The Vikes signed the 26-ear-old to a six-year, $33-million contract that tops the monster deal signed by Deon Grant last season. Williams shores up a suspect Vikings' secondary.
