In an extremely surprising move, the Eagles have franchised oft-injuted tight end L.J. Smith for the 2008-09 season.

Smith missed most of last season with various injuries, and struggled for the short time he returned. Smith will make $4.522 million next year.
Jake Delhomme, Carolina PanthersAccording to ESPN.com, Delhomme has thrown 20 ten-yard passes each morning this week and hasn't experienced any pain. Delhomme is coming off elbow surgery.
Washington RedskinsAccording to Profootballtalk.com, Redskins owner Dan Snyder is currently on his way to Jim Fassel's house in Glendale, Arizona.
