From Spygate to Tom Brady's supermodel conquests, the New England Patriots have had to deal with their fair share of media spotlights this season.

But this latest one couldn't have come at a worse time.

Just four days prior to their AFC Championship game against the San Diego Chargers, the Patriots learned that reports have leaked out claiming that star wide receiver Randy Moss, who set an NFL record with 23 TD catches this year, allegedly committed battery against a woman.

The report claimed that a temporary injuction was filed against Moss, barring him from coming within 500 feet of the woman in question. Moss responded by saying that the female was a friend for his for 11 years and that she is now asking for "six figures" to compensate for an accident – not a physical confrontation – that caused her injury.

Moss downplayed the incident and told the Associated Press that "in my whole entire life of living 30 years, I've never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner." He also told reporters that he had spoken to coach Bill Belichick about the incident.
