While most players dread training camp and the hot summer days of late July and August, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is eager to get back to work.

There’s good reason for Brees to get back at it after he threw for 5,069 yards one year ago, just 16 yards shy of Dan Marino’s single-season record.

The thought of possibly having the kind of team, particularly on defense, that can take the Saints back to the playoffs for the first time since they lost in the NFC Championship Game in 2006, is also a motivating factor.

The Saints are currently listed at +2200 to win the Super Bowl this season, and with Brees at QB those odds can only improve.

The Saints are expecting that contract negotiations with first-round draft pick Malcolm Jenkins will come down to the wire when the team reports to training camp on July 30.
