The Carolina Panthers showed everyone on Sunday that their defense can hold the fort when the offense is not clicking. QB Jake Delhomme had his worst game as a pro with four picks and was 7-of-27 in pass attempts. Thankfully the defense limited the Raiders to just two field goals in a 17-6 win.

This week Delhomme and the Panthers offense will try to get back on track against the winless Detroit Lions. Carolina enters this one as heavy 14-point favorites.

For Lions backers, there is very little to get excited about this season. At least local product Drew Stanton got to play Sunday against Jacksonville. The little-used QB handed off on his first play, then threw a TD pass on his second play.

It will be interesting to see who the Lions put out to face a Carolina D that is fourth in the league against the pass.
