NFL Week 8 Picks: Washington at Detroit

The good news for the Redskins is they get to face the horrible Detroit Lions before a bruiser of a game with the Steelers in Week 9.
The 7.5-favored Redskins have nagging injuries on both sides of the ball including QB Jason Campbell, who tweaked his groin against Cleveland but will start Sunday against Detroit. RB Clinton Portis likely won’t practice much this week due to soreness in five body parts, but the NFL rushing leader is expected to also start against Detroit. Maybe they can get some extra rest if the club can take care of the winless Lions early.
The odds are good for that to happen since Detroit has not scored a first-quarter point this season and have fallen into several deep deficits.
