NFL's Biggest Surprises and Disappointments of 2008

Here are some of the biggest boom and bust stories of the 2008 campaign:
- The Denver Broncos lose three in a row to finish out of the playoffs at 8-8 SU and 4-11-1 ATS.
- The New England Patriots go 11-5 SU (9-7 ATS) with QB Matt Cassel, who gets the franchise tag.
- The New York Jets trade for QB Brett Favre, start 8-3, finish out of the playoffs at 9-7 SU and 7-9 ATS.
- The Detroit Lions set an NFL record by going 0-16 (7-9 ATS), the only team ever to do so.
- The Arizona Cardinals ride QB Kurt Warner (96.9 QB rating) to the NFC West title, their first division crown since 1975.
- The Seattle Seahawks plummet to 4-12 (7-8-1 ATS) in Mike Holmgren’s last season as head coach.
