Many assumed it was a matter of time before the Anaheim Ducks re-signed their veterans and made another run at the Stanley Cup.
Now, it appears as though that time is upon us.
Just a month after veteran defenseman Scott Neidermayer rejoined the club, Anaheim announced that Teemu Selanne - the 37-year-old right wing who had 48 goals and 46 assists last season – signed a one-year deal to finish out the 2007-08 season as a Duck.
Selanne had been skating at the Ducks' practice facility for the last few weeks, ramping up speculation that his return was imminent. The veteran Finnish forward was a crucial component of Anaheim's Stanley Cup win last season, leading the team in goals during the regular season and then carried on his strong play in the playoffs.
He'll be a major boost to the Anaheim power play – he scored 25 goals on the man advantage last season to lead the NHL. Selanne might join the team as they come back from the NHL All-Star break on Wednesday vs. Minnesota. Bet on the game with Bodog!
