These are bad days to be NHL wagering on the Montreal Canadiens.

The Canadiens are riding a five-game losing streak as they reach the halfway point of a season-high six-game homestand tonight against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Since opening the season with a pair of overtime victories, Montreal has struggled at both ends and was booed off the ice after Saturday night’s 3-1 loss to visiting Ottawa.

When checking out NHL futures, the Habs are listed at +4500 to win the Stanley Cup.

The Canadiens have been outscored 20-9 during their five-game skid and are among the league’s lowest-scoring teams at 2.1 goals per game.

Atlanta has benefited from a leisurely pace to the early season, having played a league-low five games in two weeks.

Ondrej Pavelec, who has a 2.76 GAA in four starts, will try to earn his career-high fourth win if he faces the Canadiens for the first time.
