The league-leading New York Rangers may not have to face Rick DiPietro as they visit the struggling New York Islanders tonight. DiPietro is scheduled to see a doctor today for an undisclosed injury, and is questionable to be in net for the Islanders.

This is great news for Rangers backers since DiPietro has been outstanding in his last 12 starts against the Rangers, going 8-2-2 with a 2.07 goals-against average. In five home games during that span, he is 3-1-1 with a 1.39 GAA.

Without their starting goalie the Islanders will be in tough against their division rivals since they have lost three straight and allowed nine goals in their last two games. The Islanders are 1-3-0 at Nassau Coliseum, allowing 4.5 goals per game, and they went 2-2-0 at home against the Rangers last season.
