The Capitals will be playing their third game in four days after taking on the Islanders on Monday night. Washington had won two in a row before taking on the NHL-worst Islanders.
The Senators are hoping for a second-half turnaround after picking up at least a point in their last three contests. On Saturday night Ottawa just came up short in a 5-4 shootout loss to Montreal. Dany Heatley scored a pair of goals in the win and now has three goals in his last three games after struggling through an eight-game goalless stretch.
The Senators defeated the Capitals 2-1 in a shootout the last time Washington visited Ottawa in November. Mike Fisher scored the shootout winner, while Heatley potted the Senators’ lone goal in regulation time. In the rematch in Washington in December the Capitals crushed the Senators 5-1, as Alexander Ovechkin scored a pair of goals.
