That trouble we told you about in the Swamp? It just got a lot worse. Goaltender Martin Brodeur will be out for an extended period (the scuttlebutt is 3-4 months) after having surgery on his left elbow. This leaves the 6-3-2 Devils without their most important player by far when they host the 4-3-3 Tampa Bay Lightning.

Backup Kevin Weekes made 28 of 30 saves on Monday, but came up on the short end of a 2-0 final against the Buffalo Sabres (-112). The last time Weekes had a successful run was with the Hurricanes, posting a .912 save percentage in 65 starts in 2003-04 – the year before they won the Stanley Cup.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is getting phenomenal goaltending from Mike Smith (.941 save percentage). But the Bolts are last in the league in scoring at just 2.1 goals per game. The under is 7-3 for Tampa.
