Odds on Team to Record Most Saves in 2008 MLB Playoffs

If you had the Los Angeles Angels as your pick to record the most saves in this year’s playoffs, we have some bad news for you. (AP Images)

The Angels are off the MLB betting market after losing their ALDS matchup with the Boston Red Sox in four games. Francisco Rodriguez didn’t earn a single save after breaking the regular-season record with 62.

The current leaders are the Philadelphia Phillies. Brad Lidge picked up a pair of saves in their 3-1 NLDS victory over Milwaukee; five other teams have one save apiece thus far. Two of those teams, the Brewers and White Sox, have already been eliminated.

The Phillies are the underdogs against the Los Angeles Dodgers, so Jonathan Broxton figures to get more save opportunities than Lidge. Boston (Jonathan Papelbon) and Tampa Bay (Dan Wheeler) will also need their firemen in what should be a close series. My pick: Dodgers.
