Creaky knees and weary backs were on display Wednesday night on diamonds around the country. Seven 40-year-olds were scheduled to pitch in the major leagues. How did they fare? Here's a look:

Roger Clemens, Yankees, 44 - Lost, 4-0, as the host Baltimore Orioles scored three times in the sixth inning, denying Clemens his 350th career victory. The Rocket fell to 1-3 on the season.

Jamie Moyer, Phillies, 44 - Threw six innings, allowing three runs on three hits for the Phillies, who lost to the visiting Cincinnati Reds, 9-6. Brian Sanches (1-1) took the loss.

Kenny Rogers, Tigers, 42 - The Tigers' game against the Texas Rangers at Comerica Field was postponed because of rain.

Greg Maddux, Padres, 41 - Improved to 7-4 by throwing seven innings of five-hit ball in a 4-2 victory over the Giants in San Francisco.

Tom Glavine, Mets, 41 - Earned his 297th career win by pitching one-hit ball for six innings in a rain-shortened game at Shea Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets won, 2-0.

Woody Williams, Astros, 40 - Allowed six hits and three runs – two earned – during six innings in Milwaukee, but he didn't figure in the decision as the Astros lost, 6-3, in 11 innings.

John Smoltz, Braves, 40 - Benefitted from a 13-run attack by the Braves as Atlanta pummeled Washington, 13-0. Smoltz (9-4) went five innings, allowing five hits and one walk. He struck out seven.
