This wasn't the plan for the American men's soccer team.

Regarded as one of the more talented teams in the competition, the U.S. was unceremoniously bounced from the Olympics today after a shock 2-1 defeat to Nigeria. That, combined with the Netherlands defeating Japan 1-0, vaulted the Nigerians to the top of the group, the Dutch into second and the Americans heading home with much to think about.

Things started bleakly for the U.S. as both Freddy Adu and Michael Bradley were out with suspension. Then, just four minutes in, defender Michael Orozco was ejected for elbowing forward Solomon Okoronkwo in the chest. That threw the Americans into disarray and they were never able to get on track, even after converting a penalty to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 87th minute.

Who is the favorite now with the Americans out of the men's soccer competition? If you think you know, head on over to the Bodog Sportsbook now for all the up-to-the-minute 2008 Summer Olympics Betting available!
