Canadian knockout specialist Patrick Cote (11-4-0) says he won't be afraid to trade punches with Drew McFedries (6-2-0) when the two middleweights clash Wednesday, Jan. 23 at UFC Fight Night.

"I've never been rocked in my life," he tells The Fight Network. "I respect [McFedries'] power and I respect his stand-up but I think the pace will be too fast for him to handle. Everybody is scared of his power, so they're scared to go forward against him. I'm not scared of him. I think he will realize that he's not in the right place at the right time when the bell rings."

To prepare for the match, Cote has trained with some of the best fighters in Canada, including UFC interim welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and top-ranked Vancouver native Denis Kang.

"I was ready to fight two weeks ago," Cote explains. "Imagine how ready I am now. I can push the pace for all three rounds, non-stop. I did a lot of training with a lot of really good guys, so my confidence is high right now. I'm a lot better than Drew McFedries."

The numbers in the Bodog Sportsbook agree with him, as Cote is the -150 favorite to win, and a victory on Wednesday night could earn Cote a spot on the UFC's first Canadian show; April 19 in Montreal.

"With the UFC coming to Montreal in April, I have extra motivation to win this fight," he says. "I want to fight at home in front of my friends and family in the UFC. I want to take another step closer to a title shot. I want to avenge all of my losses, but for now, I'll just keep on beating everyone the UFC puts in front of me. That's my job."
