After nine long years of living in infamy for reasons beyond his control, New York Knicks' 20th century draft pick Frederic Weis was traded Friday to the Houston Rockets for Patrick Ewing Jr.
The relatively inconsequential move is of some importance to basketball fans on a number of levels, the first of which being the 7′2″ French center's absence from the NBA.
After being selected 15th overall in the 1999 draft Weis has bounced around leagues in France, Spain and Greece with no signs of making the transition to America.
Aside from being selected to play for the Knicks ahead of locally-produced New York native Ron Artest, Weis is known for little other than being the player that Vince Carter dunked over (literally) in the 2000 Olympic games.
Also of note with this transaction is Patrick Ewing Jr.'s arrival in New York City. Though the power forward prospect has to first make the team's roster, his lineage is hard to ignore.
Ewing Jr. is the son of former Knick great Patrick Ewing who played 15 years in New York.
