Canadian heavy-hitter Patrick Cote (12-4-0) and Iowa slugger Drew McFedries (6-3-0) had the same strategy for their fight on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at UFC Fight Night: Go for the knockout.

Once the octagon door closed, both athletes immediately began throwing heavy leather and both connected with powerful bombs. At first, it looked like McFedries had the upperhand but then a hard hook from Cote dropped the American fighter to the canvas. Unleashing a flurry of punches to the downed McFedries, Cote forced the referee to stop the fight for the TKO victory.

Afterwards, Cote told The Fight Network that McFedries' punches did not rock him as badly as fans thought. "I was not hurt by it at all," he said. "It just made me focus to go in for the kill. I knew then that I was in the fight, and it cleared my head. I was never rocked."

Now, with another win on his record, "The Predator" says he's ready to face anyone in the UFC middleweight division. "I told them if they offered me [UFC champion] Anderson Silva tomorrow, I would take it," he explained. "I'm not afraid of anyone in my weight class. I don't want easy fights. I can wait if it means I'll have a bigger name guy to fight on another card."
