It's major championship time once again on the PGA Tour and golfers seeking one last shot at glory in the dog days of summer have flocked to the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Heading into the third round of the four-day tournament golf fans may be surprised to see a number of big names cut from contention. John Daly, Vijay Singh and Lee Westwood are but a few of the golfers watching the remainder of this tournament from the sidelines.

Through 36 holes, pack leader J.B. Holmes has shot one under thanks to rounds of 71 and 68 on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Trailing Holmes in pursuit of the championship Ben Curtis, Justin Rose and Charlie Wi, all tied in second place and shooting even on the tournament.

Day three action is underway but expect the pack leaders to kick off in mid-afternoon.
