If it was only this easy every week for PGA golfers.

With greens soft, winds calm and temperatures pleasant, early starters at the East Lake golf club in Atlanta had excellent rounds before the rains came in. No one was better than Tim Clark, who tied a course record with an 8-under 62 Thursday in the opening round of the Tour Championship.

Clark is a long shot with PGA Tour Championship odds of 40/1. Don't be too eager to put money on him, though. Only 10 players completed the round before rains came in and Clark's score wasn't expected to hold up for long.

For one thing, Tiger Woods is on fire. He was at 4-under with seven holes to go. Tiger can win the FedEX Cup title with a victory in the event, which continues Friday with resumption of the first round at 8 a.m. ET. Tiger is the 3/2 betting favorite.

Padraig Harrington birdied his last four holes for a 63 and John Rollins shot a 64 to trail Clark.
