Hawaiian fighter Kala "Kolohe" Hose (6-1-0) is the new Icon Sport middleweight champion.

Hose, who was a +250 underdog in the Bodog Sportsbook, captured the belt by beating "The New York Badass" Phil Baroni (10-9-0) in a 5-round war. Baroni was a -350 favorite heading into the match.

Although Baroni started the fight strong and took Hose to the mat, he was not able to keep up the pace and Hose recovered from a series of punches, stomps and kicks in the final minute of the first round.

Baroni scored another takedown to start the second round, but Hose took over the fight from then on, as the Hawaiian fighter nearly finished his opponent with a shoulder lock. Baroni escaped from the submission and Hose switched to punches, hitting Baroni in the back of the head. While Hose was warned for the illegal blows, Baroni had his hands on his knees, gasping for air.

Coming out with his hands down to start the third round, Baroni went for another takedown but Hose fended off the tackle, landing a knee to Baroni's head. "The New York Badass" spent the rest of the round on his back, with Hose winning easily by ground and pound.

By the fourth round, Baroni had almost nothing left and, at one point, crawled under the ropes to avoid further punishment. After losing a point, Baroni spent the rest of the round on all-fours, taking punishment.

Incredibly, Baroni started the fifth round looking like he'd caught his second wind, but moments later Hose landed a huge bomb that dropped him to the mat, where he finished him off with more hard striking.
