In the chase for the playoffs, Philadelphia maintained their grip on their eighth spot in the Eastern Conference in a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday night. The game started rocky for Philadelphia, as Antero Niittymaki allowed a goal just 58 seconds in. However, he had a near-perfect remainder of the game, enabling the Flyers to earn their 10th straight series win against the Thrashers.

For the Thrashers, Ilya Kovalchuck scored his 50th goal of the season in an exciting final minute, barely missing a game-tying shot in the final seconds. Flyers' When Niittymaki made the save, Kovalchuk fell to his knees as the Flyers mobbed the rink in celebration.
