Reigning MLB World Series MVP Mike Lowell was put on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday after straining his left oblique muscle against Texas.
This puts a serious dent in the BoSox lineup. Lowell lead the team with 120 RBI a season ago and recently has been platooning in the cleanup spot with former No. 4 hole hitter Manny Ramirez now doing his thing in Los Angeles. Lowell was already sidelined for just under three weeks earlier this April because of a sprained left thumb. He is hitting .270 with 14 homers and 67 RBIs.
The Sox are right in the mix for both the AL division crown and the Wild Card playoff berth. How will they fare with another big bat out of the lineup?
