The Boston Red Sox have made a splash on the post-trade deadline waiver wire, submitting a claim for San Diego Padres RF Brian Giles.

Giles, 37, is hitting .295 this season with six home runs and 37 RBI in 103 games. He also has a .390 on-base percentage this season. He is scheduled to make $9 million this season with another $2 million added on if he was to be traded. It is reported that Boston is one of the eight teams to which Giles can block a trade as outlined in his contract.
