The USA men's basketball team clinched first in their opening round Group B with a 119-82 victory over reigning World Basketball Champion Spain.

The win over one of the most esteemed international clubs gives Americans watching assurance that their appropriately-titled Redeem Team may be able to complete what recent renditions of the USA basketball program have not.

Leading the way for USA were familiar faces LeBron James and Dwyane Wade with 18 and 16 points respectively, while Carmelo Anthony added 16 of his own.

With the win the American now look to the medal round quarter-finals where they take on the fourth-place team hailing out of Group A.
