Retired Brett Favre Chosen for Madden 09 Cover

This was a bit surprising. I guess a retired player can't succumb to the "Madden Curse."

Green Bay legend Brett Favre has been chosen to grace the cover of Madden NFL 2009.

The new game will release on Aug. 12 and marks the 20th anniversary of the game. Favre has been in the game since 1991, so I guess it's fitting.

"Madden NFL Football and Brett Favre are sports icons who have set the standard and revolutionized their positions within their respective genres," said Madden NFL Executive Producer Dale Jackson. "Brett Favre is a perfect fit for the Madden NFL 09 cover, as he epitomizes everything the franchise has stood for the past 20 years – longevity, excellence, and a love of football."

The game is supposed to boast a whole bunch of new modes but we all know the game will be exactly the same, and we'll still buy it.
