If you didn't see this coming, you're probably blind.

Just a few days after canning GM Bill Bavasi, the Seattle Mariners have fired manager John McLaren. In 156 games over two seasons with McLaren as manager, the Mariners were 68-88. Entering Thursday, Seattle, which many observers thought had the talent to compete for the American League West, was last in the division with a 25-47 record – 17.5 games back in a four-team division.

McLaren made headlines earlier this season with a profanity-laced tirade that became an instant YouTube sensation. Bodog Beat picked it up when it happened and had a good laugh at his expense. Now? It's somewhat less funny.

Former Chicago Cubs manager Jim Riggleman will take over for McLaren for the remainder of the season.

The Mariners will be back in action Friday night, starting more interleague play against the Atlanta Braves. Erik Bedard will go to the hill for Seattle, while Jorge Campillo will counter for the Braves. Get all your MLB Baseball Betting in the Bodog Sportsbook today!
