For the first time ever, 22-year-old Rafael Nadal surpassed legendary Roger Federer in the tennis world rankings thanks to a victory over Nicolas Lapentti at the Cincinnati Masters.

Earlier in the week Federer fell in the third round of the Cincinnati opening the door for Nadal in the midst of a (now) 32-game winning streak.

In semifinal action on Saturday, Nadal defeated Lapentti 7-6, 6-1 to earn his spot in the finals.

Fresh off monumental victories over Federer at the French Open and more recently Wimbledon, Nadal looks in no position to slow down any time soon.

On Sunday Nadal will look to continue his winning ways against Novak Djokovic, ranked third in the world heading into the tournament.
