The man was a walking injury list and it looks like all bumps, breaks and bruises have finally taken their toll.

Former Tennessee Titan and current Baltimore Raven Steve McNair has decided to call it quits.

"My mind was there. Mentally, I could go out and play," McNair said at a Ravens press conference on Thursday. "But physically, I couldn't do it anymore. Not to the capacity that I need to help my teammates win a football game."

A thirteen-year veteran, McNair was drafted third overall by the Tennessee Titans (then the Houston Oliers) in 1995. He went on to lead the Titans to a Super Bowl appearance in 1999 and won the co-MVP award in 2003.

When he was traded to the Ravens in 2006 he promptly led them to a 13-3 record but fell to Indianapolis in the first round.

Known as a warrior on the football field because of all the injuries he had played through in his career, all his past ailments appeared to be taking their toll in 2007. McNair suffered a groin injury early in the season, and struggled to gain first downs for the Ravens offense throughout the season.

"My mind was telling me, 'Yes,' and my body was like, 'No, what are you doing?' McNair said. "I came up with [the idea of retiring] two or three days ago, but it's been lingering ever since December."
