Before U2, there was Up with People. The Super Bowl halftime show used to be more frightening than an open-field James Harrison tackle. Here are 10 super-spectacular pieces of trivia guaranteed to scare your guests:

1970: Tribute To Mardi Gras with Carol Channing; she also performed in 1972.
1978: Clarinetist Pete Fountain was a member of the Lawrence Welk band.
1979: Ken Hamilton next appeared as “Tenera’s Cornerman” in the 1986 flop Busted Up.
1989: “Elvis Presto” was there, but no Elvis songs were performed.
1992: FOX lured over 20 million viewers away with a halftime episode of In Living Color.
1993: Michael Jackson Halftime Show, with a choir of 3,500 children.
1995: Based on an Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.
1997: Promoted the film Blues Brothers 2000, which lost $14 million at the box office.
1999: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy went on to be the house band at the ESPYs.
