Super Bowl Odds Place Patriots Way Ahead of Other 11 Playoff Teams

With the NFL playoffs beginning this weekend, interest is increasing daily in the Super Bowl odds for the 12 contenders who’ve reached the postseason.
Not surprisingly, the longest odds belong to most of the eight teams participating in the four games this weekend. The teams that have earned byes in their respective conferences will be well rested and playing in front of their home fans when the NFL Divisional Playoff games kick off next weekend.
So although NFL bettors who’ve gotten rich on the New England Patriots’ perfect season can’t bet on Bill Belichick’s team this weekend, they can put down money on the Super Bowl odds for the AFC’s top team.
The Patriots hold 2/5 odds to win Super Bowl XLII on Feb. 3 in Glendale, Ariz. That’s astonishingly low. The second choice is the defending champion Indianapolis Colts, who are at 9/2. The NFC’s top seed, the Dallas Cowboys, are next at 6/1.
New England, Indianapolis and Dallas have byes this week, along with the Green Bay Packers, the NFC’s regular-season runnerup.
