Sorry, not that Beckham.

The Tampa Bay Rays did select a potential star however, selecting Georgia high school SS Tim Beckham with the first pick in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft.

The first team in the history of the draft to choose number one in consecutive years, the Rays took the consensus top talent in Beckham, a five-tool prospect with the athleticism to stay at shortstop and a wiry frame that scouts predict will develop average power in the future.

He established himself as the top prep prospect in the nation with solid performances at last summer's high school showcase events and hit .500 with five homers, 31 RBIs and 16 stolen bases this season.
