What does the worst record in Major League Baseball get you?

A pink slip, apparently.

That's the news out of Seattle this afternoon as General Manager Bill Bavasi – who has been with the club for five seasons – has been fired from his role with the team. The Mariners, who are the worst team in baseball with a 24-45 record, felt the need to shake things up and decided to go after the designer of a $117 million payroll that was supposed to be a contender in 2008.

Vice president/associate general manager Lee Pelekoudas will take over in Bavasi's place.

Tonight, the Mariners take on the Florida Marlins in MLB Interleague play. Carlos Silva (EVEN) goes to the hill against Andrew Miller (-110) – get all your MLB Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook!
