On Thursday, matches for the eighth Presidents Cup will tee off at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco.
Considering the Americans have never lost at home, it is not a surprise the golf odds have them listed as the -350 favorite to win.
In 2003, the two teams battled to a 17-17 draw in South Africa after local favorite Ernie Els and Tiger Woods had shot par on the first three extra holes in an unprecedented playoff for the title before it became too dark to continue.
However, the Americans went on to win the next two editions, by a three-point margin at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in 2005 and by five points at Royal Montreal in 2007.
Although the Internationals do not come under one flag since they represent several countries outside Europe, the 2009 team has already begun to gel.
Could this be the year where the United States finally gets upset at home?
