It took two eagles on the back nine, but Tiger Woods managed to claw his way to the top of the US Open Leaderboard Saturday.

After eagling the 13th hole, Woods looked in position to land somewhere in the top three amongst Rocco Mediate and the England-born Lee Westwood, but he managed to even top that despite a nagging knee injury.

On the 18th hole Woods dropped a mid-ranged putt to give him sole possession of first place, leapfrogging leader Westwood all the way, and putting him at three under.

At two under Westwood currently sits in second place heading into Sunday's finale. The Englishman finished one under on the day, second only to a trio of three golfers including Canadian Mike Weir who finished at two under.

For a significant portion of the game, third-place Mediate looked as though he would finish in pole position, but a weak back nine, including a 15th hole collapse left him fighting to stay in the top-five.

Though he currently leads the pack, Woods got off to a rough start as he double bogied the first hole of the day, ironic considering his stellar back nine on Friday. Woods however, finished five under on the final nine holes that day to propel him into contention.

Westwood, who at one point found himself ranked fourth in the world, has since slipped as far as 250-plus, yet remains, this weekend,  the only player standing without a round over par heading into the final day.
