The Detroit Tigers and their huge payroll might end up looking back on Monday, April 14, as the day they turned it around. Playing at home, the Tigers fought back from a 9-4 deficit to beat the Minnesota Twins 11-9. Detroit scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the deal.

Ivan Rodriguez had a big day for the Tigers, homering in the seventh and then tripling in two runs and scoring himself in the eighth.

For Detroit, now 3-10, it was the team's first win in seven tries at home. But will it be enough to chill out the man with the smokes? Probably not.

“Where we’re at makes sense because that’s the way we’ve played,” said manager Jim Leyland on Sunday after screaming at his team. “It’s not surprising that we’re 2-10. We’ve been shut out four times. … I didn’t think we’d get shut out four times all year, to be honest with you.”
