UFC 96 turned out to be one of the most entertaining, knockout filled, nights of MMA fighting we’ve seen in a while. The only televised fight to go the distance was the main event between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine. The two strikers spent most of the fight throwing punches and kicks at each other, with Jackson getting the edge after knocking Jardine down in the second and third round. Jackson won a unanimous decision and gets a title shot at “Sugar” Rashad Evens later in the summer.

In the other fights Kendal Grove and Brandon Vera both looked impressive against weaker opponents, while Matt Hamill had the knockout of the night with a vicious kick to the head on Mark Munoz. Also, undefeated heavyweight Shane Carwin made quick work of Gabriel Gonzaga, knocking him out with a short right hand in the first round.
