After over a year away from mixed martial arts, UFC legend Ken Shamrock (26-13-2) made his return to MMA on Saturday, losing to U.K. fighter Robert "Buzz" Berry (12-7-0) by TKO at Cage Rage 25: Bring it on! on March 8 in London, England.
From the opening bell, the 44-year-old octagon veteran looked hesitant to trade punches, while Berry circled and threw crisp jabs to keep Shamrock at bay. After taking a few shots, Shamrock tried to take his opponent to the mat, but "Buzz," at 240 pounds, used his weight advantage to keep the fight standing.
Seconds later, a jab knocked Shamrock off balance and a right hand sent him to the mat. Berry leapt on his downed opponent, forcing the ref to stop the fight at 3:26 into the first round. Shamrock left the cage without comment.
On the undercard, Cage Rage featherweight champion Mazakazu Imanari (14-5-1) retained his belt by beating Brazilian Jean Silva (15-8-3) by submission. Shamrock's son, Ryan Shamrock (1-1-0) also lost by TKO.
