USC Prevails In Battle Of Contenders

In the match that college football fans have been waiting for all offseason long, No. 5-ranked Ohio State fell to the No. 1-ranked USC Trojans by an embarrassing 35-3.

After giving up an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter Saturday, Ohio State gave up 28 additional points in the second and third quarters alone before drawing a tie in the fourth.

The matchup, which headlined an eventful Saturday schedule featured two of the top programs in recent college football history.

For the past four seasons either USC or Ohio State has competed for the national championship.

USC senior quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for  four touchdowns while Rey Maualuga returned an interception for one of his own.

Elsewhere in college football, No. 2-ranked Georgia took down South Carolina while No.3 Oklahoma defeated Washington 55-14.

No. 18-ranked Brigham Young enjoyed the most lopsided victory of the afternoon in their 59-0 romp over UCLA.
