For the fifth time in her tennis career Venus Williams is Wimbledon champion, having ousted sister Serena Williams in the Grand Slam final on Saturday.

Venus won the first set, 7-5, before finishing the match with a 6-4 victory in the second.

Heading into the final, younger sister Serena had led the all-time series between the two, 8-7, but the Wimbledon victory evens the score for Venus.

Having won the five previous matchups in Grand Slam finals against her sister, it appeared as though Serena may have had a shot at securing her third Wimbledon title and came out aggressive early in the match.

The pair will fulfill their media obligations this afternoon before taking the court once again in the women's doubles final later tonight.
