Why on earth would sportsbooks peg the Pats as the faves when they did not even make the playoffs this past season?

Oddsmakers are clearly expecting quarterback Tom Brady to make a strong return after missing almost all of last season to a knee injury.

With so much of the offseason behind them and so many of the pieces in place, the question now becomes, will the ’09 Patriots live up to all the expectations?

Imagine being a defensive coordinator and having to figure out a way to cover Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Joey Galloway.

Then you have to slow the four-headed monster of Fred Taylor, Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris, and Kevin Faulk, and if you somehow do get all of that covered, Chris Baker, Alex Smith, Benjamin Watson or David Thomas could do some damage.

Fortunately, there are two sides to the ball… and the Patriots have no defense.
